"In the midst of winter, I found there, was within me, an invincible summer" -Albert Camus

Since you last heard from me I had just gotten back from the unforgettable Slovenia, and I've finally just ended my withdrawals from their apples. Just a few weeks later and it was my birthday. My roommate, Gina, and I went to island of Sardegna for the weekend. Usually it's the hotspot during the summer, but seeing as it was the middle of January it was a bit deserted. We wanted to escape the cold, and it was so nice to finally see the water again! Everyone was so welcoming, especially the little old couple that owned the place we stayed at.
Furry little things covering part of the beach

We stayed in Alghero and took a couple day trips to Bosa and Olbia, little towns in the north. The road to Bosa was along the coast so we got our fill of the sea and the trip to Olbia was through the foothills, and full of sheep. I'm pretty sure the sheep on Sardegna outnumber the people. That, and cats. We saw a true cat-lady in Alghero. She had a whole set-up for all the island cats.

(On Sardegna) "They're Italians with problems, passions, interests, desires, fixations, and the odd sloppy trait…It's a lively, pungently perfumed place. It's the road to Oristano, an odd-shaped rock, a juniper bush, a strawberry tree, a local paper, and a restaurant that stays open all year around. It's mountains and picnics on the beach. It's a land that craves water. It's an insistent, essential wind" ~Beppe Severgnini, An Italian in Italy
